WhatsApp Vs Messenger: Which is Better

Let’s face it, WhatsApp and Facebook are the most used social media apps in recent times. Chances are that you have at least one of the apps if not both on your phone. Both apps help connect and bring people closer together. In 2011, Facebook Messenger was established so people can message, share videos and images, and even call each other. Similar to the famous WhatsApp app.
WhatsApp was founded by Jan Koum and Brian Acton in 2009. This app gained popularity quickly and within little time everyone was using this app. It was in 2014 when Facebook acquired WhatsApp. Facebook has its own messaging app, but still, there are certain differences between both the apps.
One of the biggest differences is that Facebook Messenger is closely linked to your Facebook profile. While WhatsApp will link to the contacts that are already saved on your phone. Are you wondering which app is better? In this post, we have compared both the apps. So, you can decide for yourself.
Take a look!

Privacy

One of the most important things for users is privacy. WhatsApp has end-to-end encryption that will keep your conversations secure and private. This indicates only the participants of the chat can see and read the messages.
On the other hand, Facebook Messenger, by default, encrypts the messages when sent to the server. After that, the messages are again encrypted before it is sent to the recipient.

Voice Call

Another feature that can be found on both the apps is voice call. WhatsApp is preferred for calling because it allows you to call in the places where the signals are weak. A great thing about WhatsApp is that it can work well on Wi-Fi, 2G, and 3G network. While Messenger is good for group calls, especially when you have to call more than 50 people. When group calling is concerned, you cannot group call with more than 4 people.

Sharing Media

Both these apps enable you to take a picture and share it instantly with your family and friends. You can even save it for sending it later. The only difference is that on WhatsApp there is a limit on how many pictures you can share. At a time, you can only share 30 pictures. While on Messenger, you can send unlimited pictures at a time. This will help in saving your time by sending plenty of videos and images.

Deleting Messages

WhatsApp introduced the feature of deleting messages for everyone. This means if you have sent the message in the wrong conversation, you can delete it before 2 hours. However, in Messenger, you only have 10 minutes to remove the message for everyone.
Are you unable to see a profile picture of some of your contacts? For resolving this problem, read our article on how to resolve the WhatsApp profile pic issue.
In the end, it all comes down to your preference. Both these apps are good; however, WhatsApp is better in some aspects whereas Messenger in other aspects. This all depends on your choice and opinion.
